I make a regular monthly donation because, as a volunteer with ASSIST, I can see what a big difference all the help we give makes to the people we support.
In addition to all the practical support we give I have seen first-hand the psychological benefits ASSIST's help can bring. Before being taken on by ASSIST our clients have had a very traumatic time. Having fled their home country, they have had to navigate their way through a deliberately hostile asylum system, only to be told at the end of it that they have not been granted asylum. This leaves them with no money and no accommodation despite the fact that they are unable to return to their home country.
I have seen how much it means to them to then find their way to ASSIST and experience an organisation full of kind, helpful volunteers who genuinely care about them and do their utmost to help them in whatever ways they can.
I realise how important it is to ASSIST to be able to rely on regular donations for forward planning, so I am very pleased to continue supporting them in this way.
