Pat Midgley

It is with very great sadness that ASSIST Sheffield has learnt that one of our longest serving Patrons, Pat Midgley, has passed away after suffering from the coronavirus.

ASSIST was formed in 2003 and Pat was one of our Patrons from the very earliest days of our organisation. She did not hesitate to commit herself to our charity and its work when asked to do so.

Some of us knew her in other capacities long before ASSIST was formed and we approached her because she was widely known to be a compassionate and caring woman in the many activities in which she was involved.

For decades she was a hard working councillor who gave herself unflinchingly to helping others with desperate problems who came to her for support.

Everyone experienced her as a lovely person to know and work with. She was a principled councillor of great integrity who always put the needs of others before any personal advantage. Her only ambition was to serve.

We shall always be grateful for the support she gave us and our thoughts and condolences go to her family and those for whom her passing is a great personal loss.

She will be sorely missed.
