As the year draws to a close, we want to take a moment to reflect on what we’ve achieved together at ASSIST Sheffield, and to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported our work.
Throughout the year, we’ve continued to stand alongside people who have been refused asylum and left destitute, offering practical support, solidarity and a sense of belonging. This work has only been possible because of our incredible community.
What We’ve Done This Year
With your help, in 2025, we:
- Supported 110 people from over 30 countries through our vital casework service.
- Provided over £110,000 in financial support to help people seeking asylum meet basic needs.
- Accommodated 70 people across our 10 shared houses.
- Helped 37 people move on to statutory support or achieve Leave to Remain
- Participated in over 20 events, community activities, and fundraisers across Sheffield and the rest of the country.
- Worked alongside 74 clients, 131 volunteers, 14 trustees, and 12 staff to make this life-changing work happen
The Impact Behind the Numbers
Behind every statistic is a person seeking asylum, navigating through a hostile asylum system and rebuilding their life here in Sheffield. This year, we’ve seen moments of hope, kindness and connection that remind us why this work matters.
I was destitute…ASSIST offered me temporary accommodation. I got involved with so many people there; I started volunteering and playing football…I finally went to court again and received a positive decision. - Client

Thank You
As we move into the new year, we remain committed to supporting our clients with dignity, strengthening our holistic services, and continuing to challenge the systems that force people into destitution.
So whether you volunteered, donated, funded our work, partnered with us, fundraised, joined our newsletter, or simply shared a social media post, we are deeply grateful. We wouldn’t exist without your support and solidarity.
From all of us at ASSIST Sheffield, thank you.
