Olushola, Caseworker

I joined the organization because of my passion and zeal to positively impact the community where I live. Coming to a new country, I knew the difficulties being experienced. This struck a chord in me and I immediately sought the best way to help serve my community.

Once what I wanted to do was clear to me, I immediately sought organizations that support my aspirations and goals of helping people who want to migrate and seek sanctuary in the UK. I found ASSIST and immediately fell in love with its goals and mission.  I applied, went through the stages of interviews, and got the job.

At ASSIST, I work with many talented people. I am one of the caseworkers and I advocate for our clients. My responsibilities also include following up with cases that may have become complex for the clients and also signposting clients to relevant organizations, we receive training regularly on trauma-informed working, safeguarding, asylum support, etc. to help with our various roles.

The work I do at ASSIST Sheffield is important, as it plays a crucial role in sustainability and ensuring more people are kept out of the streets in the community. Our clients are decent people seeking the basic needs to live and survive in this beautiful country. It is important to make sure all opportunities provided are given to them. This helps to build a community where our children and families can peacefully live together with each other without fear and prejudice.
