It is with great sadness that we share the news that our Co-Chair of Trustees, Pious, died during the weekend of August 9th.
Our thoughts are first and foremost with his family, his children, his friends, and his community at this profoundly difficult time.
Pious was a man with a deep Christian faith and unwavering integrity, whose life was dedicated to his faith, family, and fighting and organising for justice and equality. He was a key part of the ASSIST community, making a wonderful and positive contribution over the years. He first joined our Client Consultation Group in 2021, before becoming a Trustee in 2023, and in November 2024, taking on the role of Co-Chair.
When Pious first joined ASSIST, he said:
I am here to contribute and serve.
From that day onwards, he lived up to those words in full — bringing fierce dedication, moral clarity, and a relentless commitment to our mission. He was deeply committed to challenging injustice practices in the UK, and raising the voice and respect for our clients. He brought this conviction into each conversation, every decision, and every act of leadership at ASSIST.
