Every day, money moves through the global systems and complex network of businesses around us. Through easyfundraising, we can redirect some of that money towards people who have been pushed into destitution by an unjust asylum system, without spending anything extra.
At ASSIST, we do more than just work alongside destitute people with refused asylum status. We challenge the systems that create asylum destitution, build community power, and stand in solidarity with people impacted by inhumane and unjust immigration laws. We are part of a wider national migrant justice movement working to create the conditions for justice, dignity and belonging for everyone.
Using easyfundraising is one small way to put those values into practice, turning everyday spending into resources for people excluded from the support, housing and opportunities that everyone deserves.
It costs nothing extra, but it can be an everyday act of solidarity.
How easyfundraising works
easyfundraising works with more than 8,000 retailers, including eBay, Argos, John Lewis & Partners, ASOS, Trainline and M&S. When you shop through easyfundraising, participating retailers donate to ASSIST Sheffield, at no extra cost to you.
It might only be a small amount from each purchase, but these donations add up and can make a real difference.
easyfundraising is also a safe and established way to raise free donations. It does not capture or store your payment or card details, or record what you have purchased. It is already used by nearly 200,000 charities and more than 2.4 million people, who have collectively raised almost £60 million in free donations to date.
To put this into perspective, easyfundraising estimates that an average supporter could raise around £368 a year through regular online shopping, without changing what they pay, showing how everyday transactions can add up to significant impact.
3 ways to get involved
1. Shop through easyfundraising
Before making an online purchase, visit our easyfundraising page and search for the retailer you want to shop with.
Once you have found the retailer:
- Log in to your easyfundraising account.
- Find the retailer you want to shop with.
- Click ‘Shop Now’.
- Complete your purchase as normal.
- The retailer makes a donation to ASSIST Sheffield.
Remember to start your shopping journey through easyfundraising each time. If you go directly to a retailer's website first, the purchase may not be tracked, and we may not receive the donation.
2. Download the easyfundraising Donation Reminder
If you don't want to remember to visit easyfundraising every time you shop, the Donation Reminder can do the reminding for you.
The Donation Reminder is a browser extension that pops up when you visit a participating retailer online. When a donation is available, simply click the notification to activate it, then continue shopping as normal.
It is available for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Microsoft Edge.
To get started:
- Visit the easyfundraising Donation Reminder page.
- Select your browser.
- Click ‘Add to your browser’.
- Follow the instructions to install the extension.
- Make sure you are logged into your easyfundraising account.
- When you visit a participating retailer, look out for the Donation Reminder pop-up.
- Click to activate your donation before completing your purchase.
Once installed, it makes raising donations much easier because you don't have to remember to visit easyfundraising first.
3. Download the easyfundraising app
You can also raise donations from your phone or tablet using the easyfundraising app, available through the App Store and Google Play.
Simply download the app, log in, find the retailer you want to shop with and tap ‘Shop Now’ before completing your purchase.
The app is particularly useful if you do most of your shopping on your phone.

It's that simple. Alongside raising vital donations for ASSIST, easyfundraising supporters can also benefit from some additional features.
- Exclusive retailer offers: easyfundraising regularly features exclusive offers and increased donation rates from participating retailers.
- Stamp cards and prize draws: When you shop through easyfundraising, you can earn stamps for transactions made. Once your stamp card is full, you can enter a monthly prize draw for the chance to win a prize.
Once you've signed up, why not tell your friends and family too? Refer a friend to easyfundraising and earn £5. The more people who join and use easyfundraising to support ASSIST, the more those small donations can collectively contribute to meaningful change.
