I joined ASSIST in 2012 after my wife, who works as a volunteer for the charity, told me they were looking to recruit more trustees.
I retired in 2013 after working in the voluntary sector since the late 1970s. I was born and brought up in Barnsley and returned there in 1993 to work as the Chief Executive Officer of Age Concern Barnsley. Along the way I worked in a range of community based posts spread across a wide geographical area including ; Newcastle, London, Birmingham, York, Leicester, Warrington and Massachusetts.
My hope is to be able to use the experience and knowledge gained in the above settings to contribute to the present and future development of the charity.
