Ishah Jawaid (Paid worker)

I am ASSIST's Client Support Manager. I have many years’ experience of working in the voluntary sector, providing direct support to people, with a particular focus on violence against BME women, asylum and refugees, human rights and the asylum and criminal justice system.

I have also been responsible for strategic development work and campaigning across the UK on migrant, asylum seeker and refugee rights, and the ending VAWG (Violence against Women and Girls) movement. I believe very strongly about working at a grass roots level as I believe that long term and meaningful change needs to come from this place.

When I’m not working, I can often be found at a fringe event somewhere, watching old Bollywood films, going to gigs, rambling in the peaks or eating sushi or junk food whilst watching Netflix.
