ASSIST are recruiting Trustees!

Role Title: Trustee

Responsible to: Chair of Trustees

At ASSIST Sheffield we have set a clear ambition that within the next 12 months we will become an organisation that is majority governed by people of colour and those with lived experience of migration. This is an important step for our organisation and we are seeking 3 new trustees to help drive this change.

We are seeking applications from the following;

  • People with experience of the asylum process or migration to the UK.

  • People from communities that are discriminated against due to race, ethnicity or religion.

ASSIST Sheffield is an organisation with a deep passion for social justice and an 18-year history of working with people seeking asylum. We are a highly committed and resourceful organisation, delivering a range of services with a 300 strong volunteer workforce and a small staff team. We are proud of our track record in a critically important area of work. If you share our values and vision for social change then this could be the role for you!

Time Commitment

As a minimum you would be expected to attend and contribute to 8 trustee meetings a year. Meetings are monthly, 2 hours long and some preparation is required beforehand e.g. reading papers. There are also opportunities to get involved in other pieces of work outside of trustee meetings.

Previous experience of being a trustee is not required. We are committed to providing full training and mentoring to support candidates into the new role.

A Role Description and Person Specification is available to download below.

Applications should be submitted via our Volunteer Application Form.

If you would welcome a chat about the role please email our Chair, Juliann Hall at juliann.hall@assistsheffield.org.uk to arrange a time.
